Case against Fonseka’s secretary Senaka to continue

September 25, 2010   03:16 pm

The Terrorists Investigation Division (TID) has informed the Colombo magistrate that the Attorney General has decided to continue the case against former Army chief Sarath Fonseka’s private secretary Captain Senaka de Silva.

Captain de Silva is one of the accused facing charges for allegedly conspiring to overthrow the government following the last Presidential poll.

Four other suspects arrested over the incident, Major General Upali Edirisinghe, Major General Sunil Silva, Brigadier Duminda Keppetiwalana and journalist Ruwan Weerakoon were released by courts yesterday. This was following the CID report to the Additional Magistrate informing courts that they would not be proceeding with the case following the advise from the Attorney General’s Department.
