UNPers got emergency wires mixed?

The three United National Party (UNP) members who abstained from voting against the extension of the emergency recently had done so due to a communication breakdown, said party General Secretary Tissa Attanayake.

Mr. Attanayake told Adaderana this evening that the UNP had notified all party members on the stand they should take during voting time.

However, three members, Kandy District Parliamentarian Lakshman Kiriella, Gampaha District’s Joseph Michael Perera and Moneragala’s Ranjith Madduma Bandara, had misunderstood the circular and had abstained from voting, he said.
