Police Special Task Force (STF) personnel have been deployed in the Beruwala area today in the wake of a clash between UNP and UPFA supporters, police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said.

He stated that three persons – all political supporters – have been injured in the clash which broke out last night after an election meeting for Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena.

Meanwhile another group of persons including Wennappuwa Pradeshiya Sabha member Sheron Fernando were reportedly injured after being attacked while engaging in propaganda activities for the Common Candidate in the Kolinjadiya area last evening.

Wennappuwa Police said that a complaint has been filed claiming that a group of unknown individuals obstructed the election campaigning carried out by the PS member and a group of youths, issued threats and chased them away.
