Four soldiers suspended over a fatal road accident

Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva has ordered to suspend the service of four soldiers, involved in a fatal road accident in Jayanthipura, Polonnaruwa which claimed the lives of two persons, with immediate effect. 


An Army truck with four soldiers collided with a car killing two persons on the spot on May 21 while it was returning after some duty commitments.


The Commander has also directed the Provost Marshal Brigadier Gamini Sirisena of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police and Director Legal Colonel Edward Jayasinghe to conduct immediate investigations after which the four soldiers are to be arranged before a Court Martial under the Judge Advocate General of the Army Brigadier Ranjith Rajapathirana, the Army said in a statement today. 


Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva has also instructed the Military Police to cooperate with the Police for conduct of necessary investigations.
