Acceptance of nomination begins today

Accepting of nominations for the General Election will commence today (06). Nominations will be accepted until the 15th of this month. Independent groups have commenced placing deposits.
Deposits of Rs.2,000 per candidate representing independent groups will be accepted until July 13 while there will be no deposits from the 64 registered and recognised political parties.
Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya said that applications for postal votes can be made from August 3 – 10.
