We won’t leave SLFP if Mahinda is made PM – Mahindananda

MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage says that if President Maithripala Sirisena appoints former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Minister and creates an SLFP government, then they will not leave the party and instead will sit with the government.
The former Minister was responding to a question from journalists at a press briefing of the “Joint Opposition” in Colombo today (26).
When asked why the forming of a new party under the leadership of Rajapaksa is being delayed, he said that although the election has been postponed by a year, at this juncture a massive struggle will be launched together with all political parties as the Joint Opposition.
Aluthgamage further said that the secret to Maithripala Sirisena becoming President is the fact that he did not reveal his intention to contest until the final moment and that had he done so Sirisena’s victory could have been prevented.
Therefore the Joint Opposition is also waiting until the last moment, he said, adding, that an appropriate decision would be taken after the election is announced.
If by some reason President Maithripala Sirisena appoints Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Prime Minister and creates a Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) government, we will not leave the party and instead sit in the government, he said.
