Five arrested & remanded for destroying Wattala jogging track

Five individuals arrested for allegedly demolishing a jogging track in Wattala have been remanded till May 10 after being produced before the Mahara Magistrate’s Court today.
The suspects were arrested by Wattala Police and produced before court.
The sudden removal of a jogging track in the area had stirred controversy after it was alleged that Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Affairs John Amaratunga was involved in the move.
The jogging track in question was constructed under the previous regime and had been used by many residents in the area for their daily exercises.
