Over 500 prisoners to be released today

Over 500 prisoners will be released today (May 21) on a special residential pardon in view of Vesak full moon Poya Day, the most important and sacred festivals for Buddhists in Sri Lanka.
Prisons spokeperson Thushara Upuldeniya said that prisoners who are currently serving sentences for minor crimes will be released in this manner as per the instructions of President Maithripala Sirisena.
