SC to hear petition against Namal next month

July 25, 2016   02:41 pm

The Supreme Court today (25) postponed the hearing of the petition filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption against UPFA MP Namal Rajapaksa to August 3, Ada Derana reporter said.

The commission filed the case against Namal Rajapaksa with the Supreme Court on defamation charges on June 30.

The case was filed by the Director General of the Commission, Dilrukshi Dias Wickramasinghe, stating that the MP had insulted the Bribery Commission by failing to appear to give a statement with regard to an ongoing investigation despite being summoned.

Therefore the application requests the Supreme Court to issue notice on the defendant to appear before the court and take necessary action.
