Lieutenant Colonel arrested over Athurugiriya shooting

A Lieutenant Colonel has been arrested over a shooting incident in Athurugiriya which left his wife with life threatening injuries, police confirmed on Tuesday (30).
The army officer was questioned by the police in connection with the incident yesterday as well.
He will be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate this afternoon, an official said. The woman was injured after an unidentified gunman had opened fire at her on Sunday night.
The woman who sustained injuries to her abdomen and a hand is being treated at the Colombo National hospital.
