Man arrested for attacking cop in Dharmapuram

An individual has been arrested in Dharmapuram for allegedly attacking a police officer with a glass bottle, the police said.

The suspect was arrested at around 3.30 pm this afternoon, an official said. According to police, he was protesting following the deaths of Jaffna university students when the incident transpired last night.

The injured police officer is receiving treatments at the Anuradhapura Teaching hospital.

The suspect will be produced before the Jaffna Magistrate tomorrow.
