Third Reading of Budget 2017 passed in Parliament

The Third Reading of the 2017 Budget was passed in Parliament with a majority of 110 votes, a short while ago.
A total of 165 MPs voted in favour of the budget while 55 voted against. Four members abstained from voting.
Meanwhile for the first time an electronic voting system was also used in Parliament as a trial following the voting by showing of hands.
Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of Finance presented the Budget for the Year 2017 to Parliament on November 10.
The Second Reading Debate took place for a period of six days from November 11 to November 18 and the Second Reading Division took place on November 18, 2016.
The Second Reading of the Appropriation Bill (2017) was passed by the House on November 18. A division by name of the MPP was taken as 162 votes were cast in favour while 55 votes were against it.
The Committee Stage Debate took place for a period of nineteen days from November 19 to December 10 before the Third Reading Division took place today (10).
