Two to five year Resident Visa will be issued for foreigners who invest minimum of USD 300,000 individually in Sri Lanka, Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said.

The Minister made the observation while speaking at a press conference held on Thursday.

The Government also suggested in the 2016 budget to grant Resident Visa to foreign individuals who bring a large amount of foreign exchange into the country.

The Cabinet of Ministers have also approved the Special Deposits Account Act earlier. Minister Karunanayake added that the government has already received over 5000 applications of foreign nationals who expressed their interest to invest in Sri Lanka.
