Eight behind bars for attempting to go to New Zealand by boat

Eight individuals, who had allegedly attempted to illegally travel to New Zealand by boat, have been arrested by law enforcement personnel in Negombo, police say.

Police stated that the individuals arrested are believed be residents from the Marawila, Negombo, Kalmunai and Mullaitivu areas.

They further added that the Katana police will present the individuals at the Magistrate’s Court in Negombo today (17).
