Pensions Department suspends defence personnel pension cuts

March 22, 2017   04:43 pm

The Department of Pensions has decided to not cut the pensions of retired, deceased and disabled armed forces personnel.

The decision was made after a group of retired war veterans engaged in a discussion held with the Director General of pensions, Jagath Dias, earlier today (22).

Hence, the directives mentioned in bill 01/2017, which was issued on the 09 February, proposing budget cuts in the area of defense personnel, will be suspended till further notice.
