Kalutara shooting: ‘Bunti’ remanded until 28 March

The alleged underworld figure, who was taken into custody over the shooting incident in Kalutara on 27 February, has been remanded until 28 March.
The suspect Kuruppuge Chathuranga Pushpakumara Mendis alias Bunti was remanded after being produced before the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Bunti who had been evading the police was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) in Sella Kataragama last Tuesday.
The Colombo Crime Division (CCD) following a statement recorded from the suspect has disclosed more details pertaining to the incident, the officials stated.
The police have identified the involvement of two underworld gangs in the shooting which left seven dead including two prison guards.
