The Joint Opposition would extend its support if those who are against the policies of the Prime Minister intend to bring a new person for the position, MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara says.

While speaking to reporters at a press conference held in Colombo on Thursday, Nanayakkara also invited the government MPs to join hands with them to form a new government.

“We need to witness a chance in the present government. When we mean ‘a change,’ that doesn’t represent the whole system, but the government led by the PM,” he said.

Nanayakkara also accused the PM of attempting to convey an ‘antisocial attitude’ in the country. “Therefore, the JO would not think twice to endorse a move to remove him,” he stressed.

Nanayakkara also pointed out the government is eyeing to abolish the universal franchise within few months.
