Twenty-two booked during big match vehicle parade

March 25, 2017   07:11 pm

The drivers of 22 vehicles, participating in a ‘big match’ vehicle parade in Colombo, have been arrested for allegedly obstructing traffic along the city’s main roads.

Police Headquarters recently announced that strict action will be taken against such vehicle parades obstructing traffic and inconveniencing pedestrians.

This warning came after several students from a leading boys’ school in Colombo had unlawfully entered a girls’ school and behaved in an unruly manner on March 21.

Accordingly, the drivers of several vehicles participating in the vehicle parades of two leading schools in Colombo were arrested for failing to adhere to police instructions.

Police said that cases will be filed against the arrested motorists.
