Kalutara shooting: suspect to be produced before court today

A 51-year-old individual who was arrested over his alleged involvement in the Kalutara shooting on 27 February will be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court today.


The suspect along with a pistol was taken into custody in Himbutana area on Sunday afternoon.


Earlier, alleged underworld figure Pushpakumara Mendis alias Bunti, who was taken into custody over the shooting, was remanded until 28 March.


The police have identified the involvement of two underworld gangs in the shooting which left seven dead including two prison guards.
