Dissanayake to promote tea industry domestically

March 27, 2017   11:33 am

Minister of Plantation Industries, Navin Dissanayake stated that measures will be taken in the future to promote the tea industry in the country.

He further added that although measures have been taken to promote the industry internationally, such efforts have not been made to promote the industry domestically, during a gathering held in Nuwara Eliya.

As part of the promotional activities, the ministry will be hosting quality tea sales around the island in the future.

Dissanayake stated that the price of Sri Lankan tea had been falling, due to preservatives and colorants being mixed in with the tea, and severe measures have been put in place to prevent such activities.
