PMB receives zero stock

The paddy grown during on of the two cultivation seasons, Maha Kannaya, has not been brought into the market for retail purposes.
The chairman of the paddy marketing board, S.B. Dissanayake, stated that the reason behind the situation is caused by the private sector purchasing the wheat for a higher price.
However, he further added that the board is prepared to purchase stock if presented, at any given time.
