CoI directs SriLankan not to extend term of its security head

April 23, 2017   10:02 pm

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry (CoI) has directed SriLankan Airlines not to extend the term of its head of security, retired Major General P. Chandrawansa, sources said.

A spokesperson to the CoI said the decision was taken over the charge of Chandrawansa allegedly pressuring the witnesses in the case against SriLankan Airlines.

His term is scheduled to come to an end as of this month, and Chandrawansa has requested his term to be extended by one year, it was reported.

The CoI has already apprised its decision to the SriLankan Airlines and to the relevant ministry.
