Elections commission to conclude registration of new parties

The discussions held regarding the registration of new political parties will conclude within this week, according to the election commission in Sri Lanka. 

Deputy Elections commissioner, M.M. Mohammed stated that around 95 parties have applied for registration, as of yet, and the interviews are still being carried out. 

He further added that all parties are allowed to appeal, and will have their appealed assessed. 

Sixty-four political parties have currently registered themselves with the Election Commission in Sri Lanka.
