The Government is preparing to sell the most important terminal of the Colombo harbour, the Eastern terminal, Joint Opposition’s MP Dinesh Gunawardena says.
He stated this at a press conference held today (26) to discuss the Joint Opposition’s preparation for Labour Day.
The MP stated that the Eastern terminal was the only place that had the capability to anchor ships of great depth, and that the Government had no right to sell off national treasures.
Gunawardena also stated that the public was wary and fearful of a Government that was failing at their duty to manage the disposal garbage methodically.
He added that the fear arising within the public was not something that could be eliminated with police force, and urged the Government not to abuse the power vested in them without the approval of the public.
Members of Parliament Udaya Gammanpila, Dullas Alahapperuma and Bandula Gunawardane were also present at this press conference.
