Woman jumps off bridge with child; arrested after son dies

A woman has reportedly jumped off the Kaduwela bridge and into Kelani river with her six-year-old son.

Several people who witnessed this had managed to rescue the woman, however her son had already died by the time he was rescued. The woman has been placed under arrested.

Ada Derana reporter said that police suspect the child was already dead before the woman had jumped into the river as large blood stains were found near the railing of the bridge. 

Biyagama Police is conducting an investigation.
