Suspect arrested with 9.2 kg of Kerala Cannabis

A suspect has been arrested along with a total of 9.2 kg of Kerala Cannabis in Talaimannar. 

On receipt of information to the Navy, a group of naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command in coordination with officials of the Mannar Police, carried out a raid in Thulkuduirippu, Talaimannar yesterday (21).

The suspect was nabbed with 505 g of Kerala Cannabis while a motorbike used for cannabis transferring, was also taken into custody, Sri Lanka Navy media unit said. 

Upon further questioning into the incident, the suspect revealed of another haul of Kerala Cannabis concealed in a scrub at the village of JRS, Talaimannar. 

Following the information, the naval and Police personnel carried out a search and managed to recover 8.720 kg of Kerala Cannabis. 

The apprehended person together with the stock of cannabis was handed over to the Mannar Police for onward legal action.
