The indictments for the case against former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage were submitted to the Colombo High Court today (25).

Mahinda Aluthgamage has been charged with alleged failure to declare source of funds used to purchase a luxurious house on Kynsey Road in Borella, during his tenure as a minister.

The indictments submitted for the case against the former minister, filed by the Attorney-General, states that he was in violation of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, when he used a sum of Rs. 27 million to purchase said house in Borella.

When the case was taken up before the Colombo High Court judge Gihan Kulatunga today (25), the judge ruled to release Aluthgamage on bail.

Accordingly, the judge granted cash bail valued at Rs. 200,000 and personal bail bonds of two sureties, each worth Rs. 500,000.
