FCID is hindering relief efforts - Gammanpila

May 29, 2017   02:18 pm

MP Udaya Gammanpila stated that FCID intervention has made the distribution of aid ineffective.

He further added that any official that will invalidate a circular that has been issued, with the hope of improving the effectiveness of the provision of aid will not be punished under his party’s governance, during a media briefing held today (29).

Gammanpila stated that many officials were arrested for going against the circulars that were published, during the previous government, which included the remanding of 152 of the officials.  He further added officials have been discouraged to go out of their way, due to the fear of being questioned and interrogated by the FCID.

Gammanpila also spoke on the fact that the present government still has not expressed their opinions on the unfolding of the FCID investigations that occurred in the past.
