Motor vehicle flares up in Dematagoda

A motor vehicle was completely destroyed in an unexpected explosion of fire in Dematagoda today (22).

The vehicle reportedly caught fire abruptly near the St. Anthony’s Church whilst it was traveling along St. Anthony’s Mawatha.

The explosion occurred at around 12.45 am in the early hours today (22).

As a result of the explosion, another car and van in the vicinity had also caught fire and sustained damages, Police said.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a technical malfunction of the vehicle.

Police stated that no casualties were reported by the accident.
