New policy to govern appointments and transfers of teachers - President

June 23, 2017   08:29 am

President Maithripala Sirisena stated that a new policy for teaching appointments and transfers would be introduced towards the end of the year.

He stated that no school would bear an excess of teachers after the implementation of the new policy, and that excess teaching staff members would be transferred to fill shortages of teachers in other schools.

He accordingly said that a new circular would be issued to officially implement this policy.

The President thus expressed his sentiments upon attending a ceremony in Polonnaruwa, where a new building was donated to the students of the Sungawila Muslim Maha Vidyalaya yesterday (22).

President Sirisena stated that the decision was arrived at by prioritizing the education of the younger generation of our nation, and affirmed that no child must be deprived of education facilities.
