The control prices imposed on 17 essential items will remain  unchanged, Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera said.

Samaraweera also went on to say the government would look to increase the direct tax while measures would be taken to reduce indirect tax rates.

The Minister made these observations following a discussion with the Maha Sanga of the Malwathu Chapter.
