Rs.8 million robbed in Ragama

A group of unidentified persons had fled after robbing nearly Rs.8 million while it was being transported in a car in Ragama, police said.


The incident had taken place a short while ago on Monday. The suspects had reportedly blocked the vehicle and opened fire at it. 


The car was en route to an apparel store in Kadawatha, the police. The driver in his statement to the cops has stated that he was also threatened at gunpoint by the suspects


According to the police spokesman’s office, an investigation has been commenced to identify and arrest the involved suspects.


No casualties were reported in the incident.
