The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) says that it opposed several proposals and conditions laid down by the government regarding the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM).

The GMOA announced this following a meeting held on Monday.

The GMOA pointed out that though several conditions which they came to an agreement have been mentioned, some proposals that had not been discussed with the President were too included to the statement of Secretary to the President P.B. Abeykoon.

The GMOA also insisted that the Secretary to the President should reveal on whose advise that several terms of the discussion were amended.

Abeykoon stated several facts including that the conditions laid down by the government will be stated by a special gazette notification and admission of students to SAITM and offer of degrees will be stopped until the SAITM will fulfil relevant conditions of the government’s gazette.
