Senior DIG Lalith Jayasinghe arrives at the A’pura Prison

Senior Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of Police, Lalith Jayasinghe, has been escorted to the Anuradhapura Prison to be placed under remand custody.

The remanding of the Senior DIG was ordered in connection with the murder of Vidya Sivaloganathan in Jaffna.

Commissioner-General of Prisons, Nishan Dhanasinghe stated that Lalith Jayasinghe had been brought to the Anuradhapura Prison in the evening yesterday (16).

The Magistrate of Kayts had reportedly remanded Senior DIG Lalith Jayasinghe, following his arrest over allegedly aiding and abetting a suspect’s escape.

Meanwhile, an accident had occurred whilst Lalith Jayasinghe was being transported to the Acting Magistrate of Kayts in the early hours yesterday (16).

Reports state that Lalith Jayasinghe had sustained minor injuries as a result of said accident.

The aforementioned information was provided by the Police Media Spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ruwan Gunasekara, during a media briefing which was held at the Department of Government Information.
