If solutions aren't presented by tomorrow, island wide strike day after - GMOA

The GMOA stated that if the needs requested for aren’t met by tomorrow (24), they will engage in an island wide strike on Wednesday (25). 

The Secretary of the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA), Dr. Haritha Aluthge stated that the decision was made during a discussion held today (23). 

The requests included revealing who was behind the kidnapping of Ryan Jayalath, enforcing the law against the perpetrators, officials involved in the case to issue a public apology and for university students currently in jail, to be released. 

Furthermore, the requests included  the appointment of a recognizable chairperson for the Sri Lanka Medical Council, the final discussions regarding the gazette notification issuing minimum standards of medical eduction that should be upheld within institutions and issuing a legal letter suspending the enrollment of students at the private Medical campus in Malabe while denying the students a degree. 

If all these needs were not met by tomorrow, the GMOA will engage in a 24-hour island wide strike starting at 8am on the 25.
