Sampanthan urges President to solve issue on missing persons

Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan has directed a letter to President Maithripala Sirisena, with regard to the issue surrounding the missing persons of the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

R. Sampanthan, in his letter, had reportedly requested the President to take immediate action to solve the issue which had now reached its height.

He had also outlined the problems faced by the families of the missing persons.

Sampanthan had pointed out that the Government had agreed that they had a responsibility to provide solutions to the relevant problem.

He has therefore urged President Sirisena to compile a programme enabling the solving of the prevalent issue without further delay.
