64-year old woman nabbed for Facebook scam

A woman who had fraudulently obtained money from people through Facebook social network was arrested in Weligama.

The suspect was arrested following an investigation made into a complaint received by the Weligama Police, the Police Spokesperson’s office said.

The suspect had sent messages to victims through Facebook, fraudulently convincing that they have won prizes overseas and asking them to deposit money to her bank account as deliver chargers.

The suspect was identified as a 64-year-old residing in Galawilawatte,Homagama.

Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by Weligama Police.

The police notify the public not to get entrapped by such fraudulent activates.
