President meets Nepalese Prime Minister

President Maithripala Sirisena met with the Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba in New York yesterday (21), where the Nepalese Premier acknowledged the continuous support shown by President Sirisena to the activities of the SAARC region.
The two heads of state met during the sidelines of the 72nd session of the UNGA in New York.
During the bi-lateral discussions, President Sirisena stressed the importance of taking forward the development agenda of the SAARC region without any hindrances. He mentioned that he had met with the leaders of India and Pakistan to strengthen the ties of the region.
Discussions were held to bolster the ties between Sri Lanka and Nepal as the two countries will celebrate 60 years of bi-lateral ties this year.
President Sirisena expressed his deep concern for the victims of the recent earthquake that hit Nepal pledging intent to provide aid and assistance when required.
