The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) has stated that an investigation will be launched into the utilization of 250 students by a wedding couple in Kandy to establish a Guinness World record for the longest saree train.
The Chairperson of the NCPA Mrs. Marini De Livera stated that an investigation will be launched as the NCPA received complaints stating that the children involved in the procession along the Gannoruwa-Kandy road yesterday (21), were in grave danger.
It was also mentioned that discussions are being held with the school administrators responsible for allowing the children to participate in the event.
The NCPA stated that as an institution they will not allow any act endangering children to go unpunished. It was also stated that instances of child abuse were to be reported to the NCPA via their hotline 1929.
