Showery conditions expected to enhance today

The Department of Meteorology says that a slight enhancement of prevailing showery conditions in the south-western part of the country is expected today while fairly strong winds can be expected over the island.
Showers or thundershowers at times are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Westernprovinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. Heavy falls (above 100mm) can be expected at some places, it said.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Northern Province and in the Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places elsewhere after 2.00 pm.
For Sea Area
Due to the active cloudiness in the Western sea areas, heavy showers/thundershowers, temporally strong gusty winds (up to 70-80 kmph) and very rough seas can be expected in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo.
The Met Department requested naval and fishing communities to be vigilant in this regards.
