Mahagiri damba landslides: armed forces assist clearing of garbage heap

October 22, 2017   01:45 pm

A squadron on soldiers was deployed to assist the efforts to clear the garbage heaps that piled on the Hatton road leading to Sripada, that accumulated due to the landslides in Mahagiri damba earlier this week.

Army media spokesperson Major General Roshan Seneviratne stated that a squadron of 40 soldiers were stationed near the site today (22), to assist in the clearing of garbage.

Reports confirm that the landslides occurred due to the collection of polythene and other waste items that were improperly disposed by deities visiting Sripada.
