Colombo University Arts Faculty further closed

The Arts Faculty of Colombo University will be further closed  for a period of one week, announced the University Administration today (23).

The Faculty of Arts was closed last Tuesday (17), until further notice, following a clash between two student groups.

Accordingly, The Vice Chancellor issued an order to all students to refrain from entering the Arts Faculty premised till further notice.

Two students who sustained minor injuries during the clash which took place at the students’ hostels were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.

An investigation into the incident was conducted by the Faculty Council and the report will be handed over to Colombo University Vice Chancellor Professor Lakshman Dissanayke.

However, the Faculty Council has not yet announced that the Arts Faculty can be re-opened, said the Vice Chancellor.

Meanwhile, The Vice Chancellor is due to summon the Faculty Council tomorrow (24) and a final decision regarding the re-open of Arts Faculty will be taken at the meeting, it is reported.
