Green National policy adopted to preserve the environment – President

President Maithripala Sirisena stated that the environment has been hugely burdened by unstoppable global issues such as global warming and the depletion of the ozone layer creating major problems for governments all across the globe.
Speaking at the 27th session of the Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission held at the BMICH earlier today (24), President Sirisena stated that the government adopted a Green, eco-friendly state policy on the environment to mitigate the foreseeable disasters that may befall the people of Sri Lanka.
He further stated that a nation-wide reforestation campaign has been launched with the aid of the armed forces of the country to restore the natural splendor of Sri Lanka.
The 27th session of the Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission which is being attended by 34 nations will discuss regional solutions to combat pressing, global environmental issues.
