Trains on the Northern line delayed due to derailment

A train has derailed between railway stations in Anuradhapura, delaying several trains on the Northern line. 

The Railway Control Room said that the ‘Rajarata Rejini’ train had derailed between Parasangaswewa and Medawachchiya at around 8.45pm last night.

The intercity train which was scheduled to leave Mount Lavinia for Kankesanthurai at 5.10am this morning was cancelled owing to this. 

The train which had commenced its journey from Mount Lavinia t 5.45am and the train which is scheduled to leave Colombo Fort at 8.50am today will travel only up to Anuradhapura.

The train which was scheduled to arrives from Medawachchiya and Kankesanthurai  has also been cancelled.
