A decision was taken to divide the Kalmunai Municipal Council into four Pradeshiya Sabhas, said Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faiszer Mustapha.

Meanwhile a decision had been also taken to establish a Pradeshiya Sabha in Sainthamaruthu.

People have been demanding for a separate Pradeshiya sabha in Sainthamaruthu, from the Kalmunai Municipal Council area since 1988, the Minister pointed out.

A special discussion was held in this regard between Minister Faiszer Musthapha and representatives of Tamil and Muslim parties in the area yesterday (17).

It has been proposed at the discussion to set up four Pradeshiya Sabhas for Kalmunai Municipal Council.

A special Committee headed by Opposition Leader R.Sampanthan was also appointed at the discussion.
