Two major operatives of the ‘Aava Group’ were detained by the Police Special Task Force earlier today (21), in Jaffna.

The arrests were made during a routine patrol of the Nirveli area where STF personnel arrested two suspects with sharp objects travelling in a three-wheeler.

Upon investigation, several photographs of illegal acts committed were found within the mobile phones of the detained suspects.

A nationwide campaign to thwart the ‘Aava Group’ has been launched by Minister of Law and Order Sagala Ratnayake. The Minister stated that the “Aava Group’ will not be allowed to resurface and cause turmoil within Sri Lanka.
