Sri Lankan arrested with cigarettes worth Rs. 1,148,000

A Sri Lankan who attempted to smuggle in 22,960 sticks of cigarettes worth Rs. 1,148,000 was apprehended at the Bandaranaike International Airport,Katunayake earlier this morning (12).

The 32-year -old suspect returning from Dubai by the flight bearing the no. FZ551 was arrested at the Arrival terminal by the BIA Customs.

The haul of cigarettes was confiscated and the suspect who had allegedly smuggled the stock was fined a penalty of Rs. 1000 000 .
