December 13, 2017   10:48 am

The hunger strike launched by the trade unions of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) will continue for the third day today (13).

Ceylon Electricity Employees Union Secretary Ranjan Jayalal stated that the fast will be continued as the discussions held with the officials failed.

He said that the hunger strike will be staged in front of Fort CEB head office in Colombo. He further stated that the protests are being conducted due to a fraud committed by a high-ranking official during the distribution of salaries to CEB employees.

He also stated that CEB employees will engage on a large scale strike action if a solution is not provided by the government or the CEB.
