Former Member of Parliament Mervyn Silva stated that the concept of reconciliation is not something that needed to be introduced to the country by the current government and that it always was practiced within Sri Lanka.

He further stated that reconciliation and rehabilitation was exercised in the past, even during the time of Dutch occupancy.

Mervyn Silva made these statements at a press briefing at Anuradhapura.
