Rs 5 million cash in transit robbed by gang at Ududumbara

Around Rs 5 million in cash belonging to two private companies robbed by a gang at Ududumbara while being transported to Kandy by a private security firm, the Police Spokesman said. 

He sad that the cash was being transported in a van belonging to the private security firm from Mahiyanganaya to Kandy when it was robbed by a gang of 5 individuals. 

The suspects, who also arrived in a van, had intercepted the van carrying the cash at Ududumbara and threatened the security guards with a pistol before robbing the money. 

The van used by the suspects was later found abandoned in the Pallekele area.
